Happy New Year!

Can you believe 2012 is over already? We had a fabulous year here at Stylish Occasions! We planned and coordinated almost 30 weddings (almost doubling the weddings we did in 2011)! Katie, who started as an intern in July of 2010, started working on her own weddings allowing us to take more than one wedding in a weekend. Emily started as an intern in December of 2011 and is now at the point where she will be doing her own weddings in 2013 (and she already has one booked!). I'm so excited for my girls! We planned  all types of weddings this year - small and intimate weddings as well as weddings with almost 300 guests! A trend I saw this year was family style dining. LOVE it! Even with a lot of guests it makes things feel more intimate.

We planned quite a few mixed culture weddings - Indian, Filipino, Cambodian, and Afghan. We all learned quite a bit through those weddings. I love expanding my knowledge and learning about different cultures and their traditions. And we worked with and are working with brides from all over the country - Hawaii, Texas, Florida, New Jersey, and tons from Washington, DC! In fact over 50% of our weddings in 2012 were from out of state! And so far for 2013 75% are from out of state! I guess you say long distance wedding planning has become our specialty!

We also planned quite a few weddings at family estates this year. If you're planning a wedding at a private residence I highly recommend hiring at least a day of coordinator! It will make your life so much easier!

We also saw a lot of DIY. Not necessarily because the couples were trying to save money, but because they wanted to incorporate part of themselves into their weddings. I love that about this generation of brides and grooms.

We also worked with a lot of awesome vendors that we've worked with in the past, and we had the opportunity to work with some we hadn't worked with before but definitely will be referring them in the future!

We would like to thank all of our family, friends, clients, vendors, and fans for all your love and support. We truly appreciate all of you and wish you all a very happy 2013. We look forward to great things to come here at Stylish Occasions Wedding Planning!
